My Story: From Economics to Empathy

I didn’t set out to build a personality system.

I began as a Korean immigrant studying economics at UCLA, trying to understand how the world works — systems, patterns, the logic of choice.

But beneath that logic, I kept encountering something more powerful, more unpredictable, more human: emotion.

Through years of clinical training and deeply personal experiences, I shifted from economic models to emotional development. I sat with people in their pain, watched them grow, and saw the patterns of personality form not from traits — but from attachment, trauma, identity, and healing.

That’s how the Planet Personality Inventory (PPPI) was born — not as a trend or typology, but as a lifelong map. A way to help people understand who they are, how they got there, and how to evolve beyond what once defined them.

The PPPI Manifesto

We are not just types. We are journeys.

PPPI is built on five planetary archetypes — Mercury, Mars, Venus, Earth, and Jupiter — each one representing a stage in emotional development:

  • Mercury is the longing for trust.
  • Mars is the struggle for independence.
  • Venus is the dance of harmony and conscience.
  • Earth is the quiet power of emotional sovereignty.
  • Jupiter is the transcendence into empathy, vision, and service.

This system isn’t here to box you in. It’s here to show you your orbit — and how to evolve beyond it

My Mission

PPPI exists to:

  • Give people language for what they feel but couldn’t name
  • Bridge modern psychology with ancient symbolism and human truth
  • Offer a practical, poetic, and profound tool for growth

If even one person feels truly seen — not by a label, but by a deeper truth about themselves — then this work has done its job.

Let’s build a more emotionally evolved world.
One planet at a time.

Research Background

After decades of scientific research on personality in the context of human psychological development, i have uncovered the secret behind a typical relationship attraction and conflict.

I found that personality is primarily the product of the environment, though some genes may explain minor areas through traits, such as introversion and extraversion, as claimed by Carl Jung and Phillip Zimbardo.

The theory here clarifies the personality myth by identifying one’s personality type and characteristic features to find more accurate classifications and suggestions for future conflict resolution.

The planet personality quiz is based on the 5 personality types. We are each swinging between the degree of independence from the family or group (collectivism-individualism dimension) and the level of compassion (femininity-masculinity dimension). These two axes are the building blocks of his personality theory.

The test has been developed through my decades of theoretical and scientific research in psychology, psychoanalysis, and culture, based both on the empirical research data as well as many theories on human development and personality from Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, Melanie Klein, Erik Erikson, Margaret Mahler (especially Object Relations Theory), Abraham Maslow, and many other scholars.
